trensu: (long day)

Recently, I started keeping lists of my favorite fics on Word documents. One Word document per fandom. Fandoms included are: Merlin, Doctor Who, Stargate Atlantis, Supernatural, and Kingdom Hearts. Most of these lists are less than five pages long, all in Calibri 11 font type/size.

Stargate Atlantis is on page 39 with 261 entries. *facepalm*

This means that A) all the best writers reside in the SGA fandom, B) I might not be as discerning in my fic reading as I originally thought, C) McShep is just that good or D) some combination of all of the above.

SGA WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY BRAIN?!

Spoilers for Doctor Who Season 5 Finale )

I realize that this post is not very organized but it's four in the morning and I just finished watching the last Doctor Who episode. I haven't really had time to process it beyond "Wow, awesome."

That subject line, my friends, was pretty much what my mind was saying throughout episodes The End of Time, parts 1 and 2. John Simm, you make a brilliant madman! AND OHMYGOD DID HE LOOK GORGEOUS IN EVERY SINGLE OUTFIT HE WORE!! And the slash! So much slashable pretty interactions between the Doctor and the Master. OH MASTERMASTERMASTER ILU.

Spoiler Alert )

What, they couldn't have killed off Kavanagh instead? Kaje does not approve of character deaths )

I'm off to bed now, thinking of kittens and butterflies and rainbows.

He's a slut :D

Seriously, two Ascended women and a princess so far. I just finished watching episode "The Long Goodbye." I'm close to adding Weir in Sheppard's list of conquests but I'm going to let this one slide since they were possessed. He claims to "never see this coming" but he gives in very, very easily to the ladies' advances. Jesus, Sheppard, exercise some self-control.

Also, Rodney's amazing. He has made some great development since the first episode and, no lie, he's still a jerk but he's been making emotional attachments to his team. Pretty amazing, considering his social skills. Still, I'm sure he'll make an honest man out of Sheppard eventually.

Speaking of pairings, Caldwell totally has a thing for Weir (who wouldn't? That woman's awesome). He was so glaring death at Sheppard when Phoebus!Weir chose him to be her "husband's" vessel. I love watching Caldwell interact with Weir; there is grudging respect on both parts and a bond based on their leadership status. And the way Weir shoots Caldwell down makes me giggle. I usually end up picturing Caldwell mooning over oblivious!Weir who thinks Caldwell's acting really strangely in a "omg, is he possessed again?!" way.

Anyway, Sheppard's definitely going into my harem List of Awesome.

[livejournal.com profile] kripkes_angel was kind enough to lend me her Stargate Atlantis season 1 DVDs a while back and I finally finished watching the three part finale--which is just as painfully cruel as Kripke with its cliffhanger. John Sheppard's hair is...awesome doesn't do it justice. Every time I see him I want to tug at his hair. It's awkward because there's a student in my advanced spanish class who bears a remarkable resemblance to Sheppard. He even has the same laid-back attitude as Sheppard. Also, Rodney Mckay is kind of a yellow-bellied whiner but I love him just the same because he's an arrogant, snarky, scientific genius who always pulls through in the end.

I gotta say, though, his lips bug the hell out of me. It's all pulled to one side so every time I see Mckay, I subconcsiously tilt my head to the side a bit to make it even. One must note that when I size a guy up, I look at three main attributes: hair, eyes, lips. Mckay doesn't really meet my standards on any of these attributes but his personality is overly appealing in an annoying and amusing sort of way. I do love the guy, though, and through [livejournal.com profile] kripkes_angel's insistence and [livejournal.com profile] thisfishflies's recs, I've been thoroughly introduced to the McShep 'ship. Yay. Such an endearing pair; they never fail to make me giggle.

Also, on SGA, awesome female characters that haven't died or been killed off (yet, as far as I'm aware) like Teyla who can beat Sheppard with a stick and Weir who can stare/talk down a group of trained, battle-hardened military men. Oh, thank you SGA-creator-who's-name-I-haven't-learned-yet!! (Merlin got points for this too before Morgana and Gwen started disappointing me but that's a different story entirely that probably has spoilers some might not want to read).

Oh, and Alistair v. 2.0 is in it as a loving, doting Athosian father. It is mega creepy seeing him fuss over his son after seeing him mindscrew Dean with sadistic pleasure. And Mary Winchester's dad is in it. Instead of being a Campbell, he's a Caldwell. And there's a character with the surname of Novak. So, it's like getting a dose of pseudo-SPN while watching it. Beckett, the doctor-ish person, was a guest in the episode Fallen Idols(?) of SPN. He was with the Little Bastard, sadly without the wicked accent.

In conlcusion: I'm looking foward to seeing season 2.

FYI

There are others, I'm sure, but I'm too tired to think of them right now.

Misha Collins is number 29. Jensen Ackles is number 6. Is anyone else ecstatic about that? Still, I think Misha should've been in the top ten *le sigh* Oh well. Perhaps next year.
trensu: (facepalm)
I was bored, okay? But, hey, look! It's Cas!! Isn't he pretty? He's all serious and contemplative. :)

So, I know I said I would tell you all about the convention but, I don't think I'd do it justice. And many others have captured it well. [livejournal.com profile] bellajayd referred me to Supernatural Wiki where they have all sorts of con info.

About SPN 5.10 )

I'll try to get a more sensible post up later about the con. I just had to work the Misha-cinogen out of my system.

I forsook my statistics homework today in order to spend another hour playing Kingdom Hearts 358/2 (ha, finally got the name down...is anyone else confused with the numbers?). So, hear I am playing it when I noticed something. Okay, so I noticed it when I first popped the game in but it really hit me during a mission in Beast's Castle (I'm only on day 73, or something, so that's like the third world I've visited outside of The World that Never Was).

I just got my tickets in the mail yesterday for the Salute to Supernatural Chicago Convention 2009. OMGYAY. I am so psyched, let me tell you. I got my preferred seating for Saturday admission ticket, as well as my Misha Collins photograph and autograph tickets. (It took me three tries to spell "tickets" that's how excited I am). They're all shiny and pretty and mine!! :D I am determined to enjoy every single second of the convention seeing as I haven't attended a convention in years and this'll be my first SPN themed convention. My two greatest friends will be attending the con with me. They've never gone to a con. They're con-virgins. I feel it apt that they should lose they're con-virginity with an SPN-con rather than a comic-con.

MISHAMISHAMISHAMISHA. It's going to be fantastic if only because of MISHA. But Jim Beaver's going to be there on Saturday, too. So, that means that it's going to be DOUBLE awesome.

On a completely unrelated, parting note, I just saw a youtube clip in which Colin Morgan listed himself as a "dragon wrangler" in his list of special talents. HE'S SO AMAZING, I LOVE HIM.

So...several fandoms to talk about this time around, along with some real life stuff.

Slight spoilers for SPN, Kingdom Hearts, and Merlin )

Lastly, my little brother had his first band concert today. He plays the baritone which is probably as big as he is. He was so adorable. The whole fifth grade band was adorable. They were all so excited to be playing their instruments. *smug* Of course, my brother was the best :) His instructor is considering upgrading him to a tuba and on his band progress report he got Exceeds Expectations on everything. The little guy is awesome, what can I say? It's 'cause he's got such an awesome big sister, methinks.

So, I borrowed a buddy's DS in order to play his new Kingdom Hearts game in which you get to play as Roxas and interact with all of the Organization XIII members. It sounds reallly exciting and I was ecstatic when I got my hands on it. Then I started playing it. It's good fun watching Axel interact with Roxas (I'm a shipper, so it provides an extra level of joy) and seeing the Org members personalities play out. Zexion is awesome and Larxene's kind of a bitch. Marluxia is kind of sleazy. So, pretty much what the fandom expected, I suppose. However, there's a fourteenth member. A  completely random new member. A girl member who broke Roxas out of his zombie-like state and got his focus. I'm really trying not to be too judgemental but it seems as if this girl is one of those annoying Mary Sue's you'd find in awful fanfics. We haven't seen much of her yet (I'm only on day 15 or something, after all) so I'm hoping she'll surprise me and actually be interesting and useful. But, what the hell? There can't be fourteen members in Organization THIRTEEN. It's just awkward, yeah?

But Axel is awesome. He's Roxas' first friend. He takes Roxas out for ice-cream after his missions. It makes my inner fangirl squee. Oh, Axel, you dashing bastard. Oh, Roxas, you're so adorably clueless. It makes me want to cuddle you. He's actually a lot sweeter here than in KH2. It's great. I think I might just go and look up some fanfic. I haven't been prowling the KH fandom at all recently. Well, I've got my fingers crossed for this Xion character because I want a cool female Org member besides Larxene, thanks.

Edit: Played some more. New girl's name is Xion and not only did she take Roxas and Axel's traditional ice-cream after a mission thing (granted, Axel's supposedly "dead" as far as Roxas is aware, so I can let that go), but she took my keyblade. Let me say it again, she Took MY Keyblade. My keyblade, she taketh it (temporarily). XION, HANDS OFF MY KEYBLADE, KTHX. You don't touch a person's weapon, right? That's like, a violation or something. She is cute though, so I might let it slide once, since it only lasted a moment and it supposedly saved me. But still. Keyblade = Mine.

I've got my driver's license. I went in today and drove with the test instructor lady. Afterwards, she said I did just fine. I was all "Thanks!" Then I sort of blinked and said "Wait, did I pass?" She said I sure did and I told her that it was excellent to hear that because this was the third time I tried. Then I let her know that she was an awesome person and I was going to treat myself to some ice cream, thank you very much. She agreed that that was a good idea. Now I don't have to put up with my mother-dearest's nagging and my father-dearest's "suggestions." It is an extreme relief.

I still abhor driving, and I plan to continue carpooling at every opportunity, but I feel very proud anyway. Now I'm off to get some ice cream.

And finally, happy birthday to me! I believe this episode of Merlin is quite the appropriate gift to myself.
